Brain Exercises To Improve Memory – Weird Memory Games
Hey guys. In this post, I will write about some cool brain exercises to improve memory that you can do to help keep your brain strong and young. Check this article out for some weird memory games to improve memory with these mind exercises, aka mental exercise.
This article is inspired by Ron White, a two-time USA memory champion. He used to hold the record for the fastest to memorize a deck of cards in the United States, and maybe you have seen him on the show Brain Games on the National Geographic Channel.
Brain Exercises.
This article will show you some cool brain exercises that I learned from Keep Your Brain Alive by Lawrence Katz, a Ph.D. In this book, Lawrence and Manning talked about a term called NEYROBICS. It is something when you use all of your senses – smelling, sight, taste, touch, and use it in new and unexpected ways.

Brain Exercises To Improve Memory.
The mentioned above, new and unexpected ways wake up your brain and stimulate brain growth. There’s a myth going around right now that if you play brain games, i.e., brain exercises to improve memory and just do the same game or exercise repeatedly, it will improve your brain function and cognitive ability. That is not true! Such new and unexpected ways jerk up your brain and provide for brain growth.
Ways To Improve Memory.
Let me tell you instead the ways to improve your memory. You should not do the same thing over and over. Rather what you need to do is new and unique things that involve all your senses.
Weird Memory Games.
Let’s talk about some weird memory games in this manner. For example, here is a NEUROBIC exercise – get some coins and put them in your pocket. Then reach your pocket without seeing the coins, feel them, feel the edges, feel the texture, the size of them and try to figure out what coins they are. Are they pennies of a nickel, or are they dimes? Are they quarters? This is a NEUROBIC exercise. Here now, you used your feeling of senses – your touching ability, and you’re trying to get what a coin is. That’s a NEUROBIC exercise. It’s kind of fun.
Ways To Improve Memory.
Let us now get to some ways to improve memory with some mental exercises. Let us see how you do with another NEUROBIC vendetta. That’s going to challenge your brain. Please close your eyes when you walk into your house and walk around with your eyes closed, trying to remember where the furniture is now. Do this slowly. Don’t get hurt, please.
Mind Exercises.
By closing your eyes and changing up your routine, you’re testing your memory here. You’re making your memory work in ways that it’s not used to working, and that’s what NEUROBICS is all about, doing mental exercises, making your brain work in ways other than what it’s used to work. That’s a real fun NEUROBIC mental exercise. It challenges your brain.
Mental Exercise.
Here’s another NEUROBICS mental exercise that you can do with your friends. Watch the television but put it on mute, and you and your friends try to invent conversations with the characters talking. You don’t know what they’re talking about because it’s on mute but invent a conversation that’s a NEUROBIC mental exercise. It’s going to stimulate your brain.
It’s something that you seldom do. So it will be such a great brain exercise for you. Next, do things that let you out of your normal thinking patterns; for example, if you like to read magazines about motorcycles or cars, pick up some magazines, this time about something you would never normally read about. Those may be politics or from the fashion and lifestyle domain. That will stimulate your creativity and get your brain thinking in ways that normally wouldn’t work.
You know what? I like to do such things, and I think we all know some news channels have a bias that leads politically one way or another. Do you know what I often like to do? I like to watch the channels that I know will lean in the opposite direction than I normally think because I want to stimulate my creativity and start thinking in ways that I’ve never thought about before. That is a NEUROBIC mental exercise.
Mind Exercise – Ways To Improve Memory.
Whenever you’re driving in your car or motorcycle, your brain gets on autopilot. You are always just like, “I’m going to go down this way, I’m going to turn here, I’m gonna go that way,” and that’s just getting into a habit.
Your brain is half asleep, aka not really active whenever you’re driving. It happens to me frequently that I ride my motorcycle through my entire city, and I do not even realize that I had driven through it until I had driven through it, and I had to turn around and go back because my brain was just on autopilot.
Mental Exercises – To Improve Memory.
When you’re driving, take a new route home. Some new route home will jog your brain. It’ll engage your brain more than usual. That’s a NEUROBIC exercise, or you can call mental exercises to improve memory.
Brain Exercises – Weird Memory Games.
Let us think about some other brain exercises – weird memory games. That will be good. Write with your non-dominant hand just for a day or two days or a week. Tell yourself that every time you’re writing, you will write with your non-dominant hand. This is good and will engage parts of your brain that are normally not engaged. It’s also fun.
Let me tell you a story I have heard from our inspiration guy, Ron White, a two-time USA memory champion. He was somewhat of a clumsy kid in high school. He broke his arm twice in three years, his right arm. So he often had to write with his non-dominant hand in high school, and his handwriting got pretty neat. Maybe that’s why he became the USA memory champion 20 years later.
Brain Exercises – Ways To Improve Memory.
All right. Let us talk about some other NEUROBIC brain exercises as ways to improve memory. You should have a bunch of spices. Closing your eyes, take the lids off. Smell each one. See if you can recognize the spices simply by smelling. This will engage your sense of smell in a new way and again new ways of engaging your brain – what NEUROBIC brain exercises are all about.
Conclusion.
Involving your senses, touch by touching a coin, smell by smelling spices involves all of your senses. These NEUROBIC brain exercises and mental exercises are all kinds of mind exercise that improve memory.
